About Memoirs of a Geisha

I would like to start off this post by saying wow. Absolutely wow.

When I decided to read this book, I did not expect to be as blown away as I am.

Memoirs of a Geisha is such an engrossing story. From start to finish I feel like I was right next to Sayuri (the novel’s protagonist) experiencing her world and her life adventures.

Golden really took me on a journey in this novel, and the book is so well written that I would recommend this book to all types of readers. The whole time whenever a new concept was introduced, it was explained as it would be in conversation with a family or friend; you would be familiarised with it as the story progressed. Like the term “Okiya” wasn’t just thrown in there and expect you to know it straight up.

As I’ve mentioned before, I love historical fiction. Even if it wasn’t my favourite genre though, I feel like I could have fallen in love with this book all the same.

Do you ever come across books without realising how much you will connect to it, and then all of a sudden feel such an emotional strain when finishing the book? That was me, as soon as I finished reading this one. I didn’t want it to finish! Is there a sequel?! Is there spin offs?! I need to reconnect with this world! I need answers!

Memoirs of a Geisha is going to be a hard one to let go. I might buy my own copy. Oh my gosh though. I’m actually going to struggle leaving this somewhere tomorrow. I think I might cry. If you have any suggestions of a type of place to leave this book please do suggest in the comments! ๐Ÿ™‚

Enjoy the weekend guys!

Happy Reading,

Kat xx
