Srsly Hamlet seemed pick-up worthy to me because when you first look at the cover, it seems relevant and entertaining.
Hamlet, one of the greatest stories ever told . . . in texts?!
Imagine: What if Hamlet, the Prince of Denmark, and the tragic Ophelia had smartphones? A classic is reborn in this fun and funny adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s most famous plays!
A kingdom on the brink of war.
A stolen throne.
A boy seeking revenge.
❤ and h8. The classics just got a whole lot more interesting. 😉
tl;dr A Shakespeare play told through its characters texting with emojis, checking in at certain locations, and updating their relationship statuses. The perfect gift for hip theater lovers and teens.
A glossary and cast of characters are included for those who need it. For example:tl;dr means too long; didn’t read.
As shown above in the blurb, Srsly Hamlet has a fun take on a classic Shakespeare piece. I would argue that for millennials, the text format of writing actually makes it easier to understand and read! Mind you, being a millennial myself, I didn’t understand every abbrievation but made assumptions and managed to read it all the same. The glossary at the back is super handy.
The comedy in this is great, and I love how quickly you can read it. It’s definitely one worth keeping around on the bookshelf for when you need that little dose of entertainment. I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars.
